Ultimate Sri Lanka Packing List 2026: What to Bring & What to Leave

Packing for Sri Lanka is tricky. You need swimwear for the coast, warm layers for the hills, and modest clothes for temples.

Here is the only checklist you need.

The Essentials

• Passport: Valid for 6 months.
• Visa (Printed): ETA confirmation.
• Universal Power Adapter: Sri Lanka uses Type D, M, and G (UK style). A universal adapter is a lifesaver.
• Insect Repellent: Dengue fever exists. Bring a spray with DEET.
• Sunscreen: Expensive locally. Bring your own.

Clothing

• Lightweight Cotton/Linen: It is hot and humid.
• Temple Wear (CRITICAL): You MUST cover shoulders and knees to enter temples.
  • Women: A sarong or large scarf to wrap around waist/shoulders.
